Jim's Steaks is a Philadelphia restaurant specializing in cheesesteaks, founded in 1939.[1]
History
Jim's was founded in 1939 at its original location in West Philadelphia, where it still operates, along with three other locations in the Philadelphia area.[1]
Description
Jim's serves cheesesteaks with a choice of meat, Cheez Whiz, provolone, American cheese, fried onions, mushrooms, etc.
The West Philadelphia, Northeast Philadelphia, and Springfield locations of Jim's are owned by the Proetto family. William Proetto died in 2011.[2] The South Street location is owned by the family of Proetto's business partner, Abner Silver, who died in 2015.[3]
