Jeff Mach /ɛf mæk/ (born January 27, 1975) is an American playwright, musician, and founder of Widdershins, LLC, which organizes and promotes a series of events[1] including Wicked Faire, the Steampunk World's Fair,[2] the Anachronism, the Geeky Kink Event, and other steampunk, science fiction, and fantasy events.[3]

Life

Mach grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey.[4] He attended Rutgers University, where he studied anthropology and playwriting. During that time, Jeff founded the campus Rocky Horror Picture Show club and produced his first event, "International Counterculture Konvention". In 2006, he held the first Wicked Faire, a Renaissance fair event that differentiates itself from others of the genre by being held in the winter, by being held entirely indoors, and by favoring a mixture of genres over immersive purity.[5]

After learning about the Steampunk movement by attending SalonCon,[6] Mach collaborated to organize the first Steampunk World's Fair (2010).[7][8] Originally expecting approximately 500 attendees, the event drew upwards of 3,500[9] After the event received significant critical and fan acclaim,[9] Mach went on to organize several other recurring Steampunk events such as The Anarchronism at Webster Hall and the Alternative Living Expo[10][11][12]

He now lives in Hackensack. He was the Philcon 2010 Fan Guest of Honor[13] and the Great New England Steampunk Exposition 2011 Fan Guest of Honor.[14]

Collaborations

Steampunk City Returns to Morristown (2014)

This program is a collaboration between Historic Speedwell and Jeff Mach Events, the producers of the Steampunk World’s Fair, the world’s largest Steampunk show.

“The staff at Speedwell started hearing more and more about the Steampunk community and these alternate history enthusiasts. We realized that with Stephen Vail’s interest in innovation and almost constant tinkering, and the time period in which he was living, a Steampunk event at Speedwell was a great fit,”

Pride Parade News: Equality for all - with Robot to boot (2014)

On June 29th, the annual Gay Pride Parade in New York City will be bustling with colorful, lively and moving marchers and floats. For the very first time, a member of the “non-human” species aka a Robot will be proudly supporting this equality for all event.

"We wanted to build something to highlight how creative Steampunk could be,” noted Mach. “"We believe that Steampunk should be inclusive, and we wanted to symbolize that in the parade. And a giant robot is a symbol that's pretty hard to ignore."
