Jed Donahue

"Jalapeño" Jed Donahue is a competitive eater from Huntington Beach, California and a top-ranked member of International Federation of Competitive Eating. Donahue is a grizzled veteran who has maintained a boyish, optimistic attitude to eating. He secured his title as the jalapeño pepper eating champion of the world by consuming 152 jalapeño peppers in 15 minutes at the George Washington's Birthday Celebration in Laredo, Texas.

His attempt to earn the title of Jalapeño King in 1992 is chronicled in the short film "Jalapeño" by John Stobaugh which ran on Austin, Texas access cablevision for many years.

Recently, Donahue has earned kudos for performances in grilled cheese (23 grilled cheese sandwiches in 10 minutes), donuts (30.5 glazed doughnuts in 8 minutes) and a win in the 84 Lumber baked bean eating championship in Chandler, Arizona (84 ounces in 1 minutes, 45 seconds). He is known in the competitive eating circuit as a smart, affable and ambitious eater.
