Major General Jayantha de S. Jayaratne, VSV, ndc, IG, SLA (died 1988) was a Sri Lankan general, who was the former Commander Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SF HQ (J)).
Educated at Royal College, Colombo, he joined the army after graduating from the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. He was commissioned into the Ceylon Artillery as a Second Lieutenant.
Major General Jayaratne was a graduate of the National Defence College, India and was the Inspector General of the Sri Lanka Artillery. He was awarded the Vishista Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV) in 1987 and died in 1988.[1]
