Jason Solomons is one of the UK's best-known film critics, a talented journalist, broadcaster and author.

Career

Jason is a regular critic on BBC News, Sky News and BBC Radio and is the former Chairman of the London Film Critics' Circle. He is the host of the Movie Talk interview series on Sky Arts, syndicated world wide as well as on the London Live TV channel. Jason has presented his unique film slot on BBC Radio London every week for over 15 years as part of the Robert Elms show. He is a regular host on red carpets, presenter of Virgin Atlantic's in-flight entertainment show and has covered every Cannes Film Festival since 1997, where he began his legendary Trailer Trash column for the Observer newspaper, the first dedicated film diary and gossip column in British newspapers. In nearly 20 years covering movies, Jason has conducted interviews - on stage, in print and on tape - with some of the greatest names in cinema including Danny Boyle, Catherine Deneuve, Peter Fonda, Nicole Kidman, Spike Lee, Mike Leigh, Gary Oldman, Martin Scorsese, Paul Verhoeven, and Woody Allen.

Woody Allen: Film By Film covers 50 years of ground-breaking cinema, exploring each one of the director's movies, making it the complete critical analysis of the filmmakers's work to date. Early life

Solomons attended Merchant Taylors' School in Northwood, Hillingdon, Greater London. He studied French and German at Trinity College, Oxford and lived in Paris for a year. After Oxford, Solomons took a postgraduate course in journalism at City University, London before beginning his career as a journalist and the first graduate trainee at The Daily Express. There, he became showbiz editor and then film critic, before leaving in 1998 for The Mail on Sunday.

Personal life

Jason lives in north London with his wife and children, just around the corner from one of his other passions: Arsenal Football Club.
