Japonesque is the tenth studio album by singer-songwriter Kumi Koda. The album was released on January 25, 2012 and, much like her previous albums, charted at #1 on Oricon, remaining on the charts for seventeen weeks.[2][3]
Information
The album comes in four different versions, each displaying a different cover and containing different content: CD only, CD+DVD, CD+2DVD and CD+goods.[4] Similar to her 2008 album Kingdom, each song has a corresponding music video, with the exception of the introduction and the interlude.
Koda Kumi teamed up with Mr. Blistah for the track So Nice, which became their second collaborative effort together - the other was Kumi's 2005 single Candy feat. Mr. Blistah. She had also performed with the duo Clench & Blistah for other songs, which were Teaser feat. Clench & Blistah and Stands Up feat. Koda Kumi. The latter song was on Clench & Blistah's tenth anniversary album LOVE & MESSAGE.[5][6] Mr. Blistah also helped work on the music and lyrics for track #13, No Man's Land.
Packaging
The four editions of the album are:
- CD only: includes CD.[7]
- CD+DVD: includes CD and music video DVD.[8]
- CD+2DVD: contains CD, music video DVD and DVD with 9 spots for her previous albums, plus twenty of her best live performances. The regular press of this edition comes enclosed in a double jewel case, while the first press is in a digipak case.[9]
- CD+Goods: contains CD, large folder, B2-size 32-page photo-book and a 2012 diary.[10]
All four editions come with a lyrics booklet
Music Videos
Much like her 2008 album Kingdom, each main track was given a music video.
Love Me Back was given an "album version," which carried a storyline, unlike its single predecessor.
You are not alone had the "live version" placed on the album, which was performed acoustically.
Brave had a different music video later put on her EP Love Romance, which was done for her third pachinko game.
