James Lawrence is a professional football player registered with Slovak Champions FK AS Trenčín who play in the Fortuna Liga.
Club career
After an early youth career with Enfield, Arsenal, QPR and HFC Haarlem Lawrence joined Ajax where he played for two seasons, finishing the 2010/11 season as Netherlands U19 Eerstedivisie Champion.[1] Periods at U21 level with Sparta Rotterdam and RKC Waalwijk followed prior to a transfer to Ajax affiliated club FK AS Trenčín aged 21.
FK AS Trenčín
2014–15 season
Lawrence transferred to AS Trenčín on 13 August 2014[2] and scored on his debut the same day in a Slovak Cup match against ŠK Strážske.[3] Four days later Lawrence made his Fortuna Liga debut in a 4-2 win against MFK Košice.[4] On 1 May 2015 Lawrence helped AS Trenčín to a maiden Slovak Cup, playing in the final against FK Senica which ended 2-2 after extra time and which was won 3-2 on penalties.[5] In May 2015 AS Trenčín became Fortuna Liga Champions for the first time[6] with Lawrence thus achieving the league and cup double in his first senior season.[7]
2015–16 season
An injury sustained in the final minutes of the 2015 Cup Final marred the end of the 2014-15 season and prevented participation in the UEFA Champions League qualifier against FC Steaua București which was lost 4-3 on aggregate. Lawrence returned to the first team on 13 October 2015 scoring in a 3-0 win over ŠK Blava Jaslovské Bohunice in the 4th round of the Slovak Cup.
Prior to the winter break 2015/16 Lawrence had played 29 matches for AS Trenčín, winning 22, drawing 5 and losing 2 (PPG 2.45 | goal average 3.54 | goal ratio 0.78).
