Dr. Alexander John Travers "Jack" Allan (17 November 1875 – 3 March 1898[1])[2] was a Scottish amateur golfer who won the British Amateur Championship in 1897 at Muirfield.[3] Allan was born on Portland, Dorset,[4] the son of Alexander Allan, a Scottish surgeon working in the Royal Navy hospital there. He died in Edinburgh of tuberculosis at the age of 22.[1][5][6]
