Jacek M. Gałązka (born April 28, 1924) - soldier of the Polish Armed Forces in the West, publicist, emigre activist and president of the Józef Piłsudski Institute of America in the years 1999–2008.

Biography

He was born on April 28, 1924 in Wilno, Poland (now Vilnus, Lithuania). Alumnus of the Cadets Corps in Rawicz. Since 1942 a soldier of the Second Motorized Regiment of the First Armored Division of the Polish Armed Forces in the West.

He finished the economy major at the University of Edinburgh. Living in the United States since 1952. Founder of the Polish Heritage Publications. Publisher of Polish literature in English.

He worked for the company Charles Scribner's Sons, eventually advancing to become its president. Author of translations of works by Stanisław Jerzy Lec, e.g. Unkempt Thoughts. Co-author of the Polish Heritage Travel Guide to USA & Canada. President of the Józef Piłsudski Institute of America in the years 1999–2008.
