Izet Nanić (4 October 1965 – 5 August 1995) was a Bosniak brigade commander.
Biography
Izet Nanić was born to Ibrahim and Rasima, as a second of seven children. He was married and has three children: a daughter Izeta, born 1988 and two sons Nevzet, born 1991, and Ibrahim, born 1993. Until 1992, Nanić was an officer of the Yugoslav People's Army. He was a lieutenant of the Yugoslav Air Force and Antiaircraft Defence in Kragujevac, Serbia. After beginning of the Croatian War of Independence, Nanić served in Western Slavonia and Western Syrmia, participating in the Battle of Vukovar.
At the beginning of Bosnian War, he joined the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He became the commander of the 505th Brigade of the Fifth Corps led by Brigadier General Atif Dudaković. He led the command for four years, the entire war.
Izet Nanić was killed in action on 5 August 1995.
