Itwa is a tehsil and town in the Siddharthnagar district in Basti division within Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and adjacent to Nepal.[1] Itwa is situated 182 km from the State's Capital City Lucknow.Currently Shri Mata Prasad Pandey is the biggest political face from Itwa. He is currently Speaker of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.Notable individuals of the tehsil include Maulana Anwar Bastavi.Maulana Anwar Bastavi is General Secretary of Jamiat Ahle Hadees Eastern U.P.[2][3][4][5]

The literacy rate amongst the people is considerably higher than other people living in surrounding area. This area has developed and become the center of social, general and religious educational activities. A few big and small Educational Institutes and Religious educational institutes like Madrasas (Jamia Al Farooque, Jamia Ittehad-e-Millat), Primary Schools, and High-schools have been formed from time to time and are running successfully.

It has Al Farooque Inter college,Rais ahmad inter college and Mata Prasad Jaiswal Intermediate College for Education till 10+2 having streams as Literature, Science (Maths and Biology in 10+2), etc. The tehsil has Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Mahavidyalayaa for graduation courses.[6] Official language of itwa is Hindi. but generly speek bhojpuri.

Business and economy

The agriculture related products are found in the market at large for business and trade. Several shops are located in the mid of this tehsil for marketable purpose.Due to unemployment people of Itwa are compelled to work in Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Middle Eastern countries (like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman etc.) for their living apart from local traders who are the backbone of the economy of this town. A substantial number of people are also working in government sector but they mostly live in their respective cities.
