Isabel Schnabel
Isabel Schnabel (née Gödde, born 9 August 1971) is a German economist. She has been a professor of financial economics at the University of Mainz since 2007,[1] and a member of the German Council of Economic Experts since 2014.[2]
Career
Schnabel completed her training as a bank clerk at Deutsche Bank in 1992 andearned a diplom and a doctorate from the University of Mannheim in 1998 and 2003, respectively. Her dissertation, Macroeconomic Risks and Financial Crises – A Historical Perspective, was written under supervision of Martin Hellwig.[3]
She was a visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the London School of Economics, and Harvard University. She is Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), Fellow of the CESifo Network, and Research Affiliate at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods (MPI) in Bonn.[4]
