Irma Glicman Adelman (born 14 March 1930 in Chernivtsi, Romania) is an American economist. She is a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the Graduate School of the University of California, Berkeley since 1979.[1] She has made important contributions in the field of development economics. She was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1974.[2]

Early life and education

Adelman was born in Chernivtsi, Romania. In 1939 she moved with her family to Palestine where she continued her education through high school.

After high school, Adelman went to the United States. Berkeley was her alma mater where she received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (1950) followed by her Master's (1951) and Doctorate (1955) degrees in economics. [3]
