Indian American Muslim Council
The Indian American Muslim Council (formerly Indian Muslim Council-USA) is a non-profit advocacy organization of Indian Muslims in the United States with thirteen chapters in different parts of the United States. It was established on August 15, 2002, the 55th anniversary of India's Independence.
History
After 2002 Gujarat Violence, Muslims of Indian origin in the United States founded IAMC as a grassroots based organization to advocate for pluralism and to safeguard religious freedom for all people.
IAMC has worked with people of various faiths in the US as well as in India, to work jointly on projects and campaigns to defend human rights and civil liberties.
