"Inalcanzable" (English: "Unattainable") is a song written by Carlos Lara for the latin pop group RBD's fourth studio album, Empezar Desde Cero (2007).
Produced by Pedro Damián, it is the first single off the album. RBD confirmed the release of the song at the press conference of the "RBD Day" on October 4, 2007. The song was released to radio stations on October 8, 2007 and has won an Orgullosamente Latino Award 2008 for the Best Latin Video. The official remix won an award too on Best Collaboration Of The Year on Premios Juventud which features Reggaeton duo Jowell & Randy, and Reggaeton solo artist De La Ghetto.
Critical reception
"Inalcanzable" was generally well received by music critics. Rhapsody complimented the song for being a " beautiful and sweet collective ballad." [1] Rhapsody also commented this album "could signal the start of a more mature phase of RBD".
Music video
The video was directed by Esteban Madrazo[2] and shot on November 7, 2007. The video was filmed in an old house at Colonia San Rafael, Mexico City and was shot in twenty hours.
The video premiered on December 5 through Estreno Mundial,[3] but leaked onto the Internet the day before, December 4, 2007.
The video features multiple special effects and shows the RBD members going through a tough time, where very special people come to give them courage and support. These very special people are RBD's fans who reflect the message the group wants to give out.
Chart performance
"Inalcanzable" debuted at number thirty-six in the Billboard Latin Pop Airplay chart on November 4, 2007. The song made a big impact on the same chart the next issue by moving from #36 to #9, being bulleted as the song that increased the most in plays that week. "Inalcanzable" is their fifth top 10 hit on the Hot Latin Songs, peaking at number 6 in its sixth week charting.[4]
