Immanuel College is a voluntary aided Church of England secondary school in the City of Bradford LEA, in West Yorkshire, England. It has around 1,200 students, ranging from 11–18 years old. It was officially opened in October 2001, and is currently one of the most improving schools in Yorkshire.
History
The school began when construction began in 2000 and was finally opened in 2001 by the Bishop of Bradford, David Smith. The school now has modern facilities such as modern computer suites in most departments, dining facilities and a large sports hall. This year has seen some of the best results so far with a gain in 5 A*-C pass rate of 88%. Its name has now been changed along with its logo to simply Immanuel College.
Charity work
The school has also participated in a trip to Gambia in 2006, where over 20 students along with teachers helped to build a new library in a remote village. The school raised over £2,000 to build the library which they then continued to paint and supply books for. The school returned the next year and helped paint the classrooms of the school and gave supplies for its completion once they left. The school also often has non uniform days where students pay £1 to wear their own clothes. In the more recent years, sixth form students have also had "fancy dress days" to raise money for charity.
