Ian Borthwick

Ian Borthwick is an independent politician formerly a member of the Labour Party[1] and a serving councillor on Dundee City Council.

He is Scotland's longest-serving councillor[2] and Dundee's most senior politician, having celebrated fifty years in local government in June 2013.[3] He was first elected to Dundee Town Council in 1963, then joined Tayside Regional Council in 1975 and Dundee City Council in 1996.[4]
