Hussein Tai

Hussein Tai (born 1966, Baghdad[1]) is an Iraqi-Danish contemporary artist, who is known for his art that displays the clear differences between his war-filled homeland and Denmark where he now lives and works. He expresses his life experiences and understanding of war through his art.

Early life

Hussein Tai was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq. He studied at the College of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad School of Art from 1985, graduating in 1992. In the winter of 2000, Tai migrated to Denmark, where he is currently living and working.[2]

In the summer of 2015, Tai finished his MFA (master in fine arts) in National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland.[2]

Work

Hussein Tai's imagery is predominantly abstract and holds a special alternation between quiet surfaces and tempestuously energy centers. From his time in Iraq comes a color use, which together with more Nordic color tones, gives the works a significant depth. Tai strives to combine a flat fitting expression of perspectival aspects which works give a special character of intensity and a condensed expression.[2][3][4]
