Hugh Bellot
For the professor of American history, see Hugh Hale Bellot.
Hugh Bellot (1542–1596) was bishop of Bangor and then bishop of Chester.
He assisted William Morgan in his Welsh-language translation of the Bible. He was also a reputed misogynist.[1]
Life
He graduated B.A. at Christ's College, Cambridge, in 1564; he then became M.A. and fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge in 1567.[2] He was ordained bishop of Bangor in 1585,[3] and bishop of Chester in 1595.
