Dance/Electronic Songs

Dance/Electronic Songs is a music chart published weekly by Billboard magazine which ranks the top-selling electronic dance music singles in the United States through a combination of CD single sales, digital downloads, club play and radio airplay. The chart was introduced on January 17, 2013 on its website starting with the issue dated January 26, 2013. The launching of this chart was due to the sudden and growing interest in the Dance genre through various platforms. The methodology for the chart is similar to the one used for the Billboard Hot 100 chart and will be used to determine its eligibility onto the latter.

Criteria

There are fifty positions on this chart. Rankings are compiled by point-of-purchase sales obtained by Nielsen SoundScan data, radio airplay (monitored by Nielsen BDS), streaming data, reported club play from a select national panel of 140 club DJs, and from legal digital downloads from a variety of internet music stores. Outside of club play data, Dance/Electronic Songs will match the methodology applied to the Billboard Hot 100. Titles eligible for the chart will be determined based on a song's core sound and tempo. However, Dance remixes of titles categorized as pop, rock, R&B, rap or another genre would become ineligible for Dance/Electronic Songs, even if the title appears on the Dance Club Songs or Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart.[1]
