Hong Kong Third Division League
Hong Kong Third Division League is the fourth-highest division overall in the Hong Kong football league system under the organisation of Hong Kong Football Association.
Starting from the 2012–13 season, the two divisions of Hong Kong Third Division League will merge into one. Teams of Third Division League in the 2012–13 team are the 2 final round losing team and the 3rd to 10th placed teams of Hong Kong Third A Division League, along with the 3rd and 4th placed teams of Hong Kong Third District Division League. The remaining teams from Hong Kong Third A Division League and Hong Kong Third District Division League will compete in Hong Kong Fourth Division League in the 2012–13 season.
Before the 2012–13 season, it was divided into two parallel leagues: Hong Kong Third 'A' Division League and Hong Kong Third 'District' Division League. The first one was competed by club teams while the later one was played by teams sent by each District Council of Hong Kong. The top two teams in each league entered into the Third Division League Final Round to compete for the two promotion places to Hong Kong Second Division League.
Format & Rules
- maximum number of teams in Third 'A' Division League and Third 'District' Division League is 20 teams.
- No foreign players are allowed in the teams.
Hong Kong Third 'A' Division League
- Each team plays with the other teams once. The top team grants champion and it enter the Third Division League Final Round with the runner-up team.
- There must be at least 3 players younger than 26 years old playing in each match.
- The bottom two teams in the league will not be allowed to enter the league next season.
Hong Kong Third 'District' Division League
- Each team plays with the other teams once. The top team grants champion and it enter the Third Division League Final Round with the runner-up team.
- There must be at most 3 players older than 26 years old playing in each match.
- There is no relegation system for the league
Third Division League Final Round
- Each team plays with the other teams once. The top two team promote to the Second Division.
- The last two teams stay in their original leagues.
