Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education is a public university located in Thu Duc District, about 10 km north-east from downtown Ho Chi Minh City. This university offers bachelor's and associate degree to prospective lecturers in other technical institutions. The university also conducts technical research and vocational training, in addition to educational cooperation with foreign universities.

History

The university was established on the basis of Technical Training Division, which was founded on 5 October 1962 in Saigon. On 21 September 1972, the school was renamed Nguyen Truong To Collegiate Center for Technical Education of Thu Duc (Trung tâm Cao đẳng Sư phạm Kỹ thuật Nguyễn Trường Tộ - Thủ Đức) and then was upgraded to Thu Duc University of Education (Trường Đại học Giáo dục Thủ Đức) in 1974.

In October 1976, the university was renamed as Thu Duc University of Technical Education (Trường Đại học Sư phạm kỹ thuật Thủ Đức). In 1984 and 1991, this university was merged with Thu Duc School of Industry (Trường Trung học Công nghiệp Thủ Đức), and with Technical Training University V (Trường Sư phạm Kỹ thuật V), respectively, to become the present-day Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education.
