Hipparchus (cavalry officer)
A hipparchus or hipparch (Greek: ἵππαρχος hipparkhos) was the title of an ancient Greek cavalry officer, commanding a hipparchia (unit of about 500 horsemen); two such units were commanded by an epihipparchos.
