Hilton, Inverness

Hilton (Scottish Gaelic: Baile A' Chnuic) is a former village now part of the city of Inverness, in the Highland council area of Scotland. It is about 2 km south of the city centre. It is widely considered a working class area due to the large amount of council housing which was built there during the Post-War Era of the 20th Century.

Schools

The area is served by 2 primary schools, Hilton and Cauldeen. After pupils finish their 7th year of education they usually go to the Inverness Royal Academy, although they have the option of attending other schools, at the discretion of the local authority's Education Department.

In Hilton there are 3 local shops, a pub, a bar/restaurant, a hairdressers', a doctors' surgery, a post office, a butchers', a church, a chip shop, a pharmacy and a local authority service point.

Transport

On weekdays the area enjoys buses into the centre of Inverness departing every 10 minutes from early morning til late in the evening, with a less frequent service being provided at weekends.
