Hemse is a locality situated in Gotland Municipality, Gotland County, Sweden with 1,715 inhabitants in 2010.[1] It is the second largest locality (after Visby) on the island of Gotland. During 19th century Hemse was known for its market places.
Hemse stave church, the best-preserved remnants of a stave church from present-day Sweden, was discovered under the floor of Hemse Church during the late 19th century.
