Hemibates stenosoma is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. This species grows to a length of 30 centimetres (12 in) TL. This species is the only formally described member of its genus.[2] There is another, undescribed species referred to as Hemibates sp. "stenosoma chituta .
