Hein de Baar

Hein J.W. de Baar (born 1949)[1] is a Dutch professor of Oceanography. He has worked for the University of Groningen and the Royal Netherlands Institute of Sea Research (NIOZ).[2]

De Baar obtained a degree at the Delft University of Technology, he has worked for the NIOZ since 1987 and the University of Groningen since 1992.[3] He has supported the farming of algae for biofuel.[4] De Baar has warned for the speed at which ocean acidification intensifies.[5]

De Baar became a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2010.[2]
