Headed for the Future is the seventeenth studio album released by Neil Diamond in 1986. The album went to number 20 on the Billboard 200 and also heralded a return to the pop charts, when the uptempo, keyboard-heavy title track, "Headed for the Future" reached #53 (also cracking the top 10 on the Adult Contemporary chart). Another single, "The Story of My Life" narrowly missed the top ten on the adult contemporary charts[2] and has since become one of Neil Diamond's best-known and well-respected songs. Headed for the Future has been certified gold in the US by the RIAA.[3]
