Ray Mitchell Oval (also known as Harrup Park) is a cricket ground in the city of Mackay, Queensland, Australia.

Domestic matches

The first recorded match on the ground occurred when Queensland Country XI played against the touring West Indians in 1968.[1] In 1978, the ground staged a single World Series Cricket "Country Cavaliers" match.[1]

The ground held its first two List A one day matches in 1988, when Queensland played the touring Pakistanis on 3 and 4 December 1988.[2]

The only first-class match to be played there to date came in 1995 when Queensland played against the touring Sri Lankans,[3] with the match ending in a 273 run victory for Queensland.[4] A further List A match was played there in October 2011 between Queensland and Tasmania in the 2011/12 Ryobi One Day Cup.[2]

International matches

The ground was selected to hold a single One Day International match during the 1992 Cricket World Cup, with India and Sri Lanka playing a match against each other on the 28th of February.[5] The match was abandoned after only playing two balls, due to rain, despite the best efforts of the groundstaff to dry the outfield.[6]

Sri Lankan fast bowler Champaka Ramanayake holds the unusual distinction of being the only international bowler to have ever bowled in this match, and the match was washed out after Champaka's first two deliveries.[7] This was also debut match of Ajay Jadeja.
