Hamburg-Harburg or Harburg (German: Bahnhof Hamburg-Harburg) is one of Hamburg's four major main line railway stations. The station is located in Harburg in the city of Hamburg, Germany. The station opened on 1 May 1897 and is located on the Hanover–Hamburg railway, Wanne-Eickel–Hamburg railway, Lower Elbe Railway and the Harburg S-Bahn line. The train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn and Metronom. The rapid transit station Harburg is served by the trains of the Hamburg S-Bahn.

The station is managed by DB Station&Service.[1]

History

In 1983, the underground station for the Hamburg S-Bahn was opened.[2]

The railway tracks and platforms for the main are at-grade and the S-Bahn tracks are crossing in the first underground station on the line S3 and S31 coming from central station.[2]

Long distance

The ICE line 25 to Munich calls Hamburg-Harburg. The ICE trains are run by the German railway company Deutsche Bahn.

Regional trains

Among other regional trains the regional lines R50 from Cuxhaven, R40 from Bremen, R41 from Soltau and R30 from Lüneburg are calling the station. The regional lines continue toward Hamburg central station.

Rapid transit

The lines S3 and S31 come from the South-Western quarters and Stade continue via central station toward Pinneberg or Altona in the North-West.[4]

Buses

There is a bus station for several bus lines in front of the railway station.[5]

Facilities

There are parking places and places to lock a bicycle. Several shops are located in the station. For the main line railway is station personnel present for ticket sale, information and service for handicapped persons, because the highest step is 5 centimetres (2.0 in). There are lockboxes, toilets, and SOS and information telephones.[5]
