Haitham Yousif (born Haitham Abed Yousif Sadiq, (Arabic: هيثم عبد يوسف صادق, Syriac: ܗܝܬܡ ܥܒܕ ܝܘܣܦ), November 29, 1969) is an Iraqi singer, composer and songwriter. Referred to as the Prince of Love, Sad Love String and Entertainment Pearl, he is the most commercially successful and one of the most influential entertainers in Iraq.
Biography
Haitham was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq on November 29, 1969 to Christian parents originally from the town of Alqosh.
Early life
He made his debut in 1983 as a singer in vocal group named Friends of the Leader, and later began a successful solo career in late 1989.
Professional career
1983–1999: Rise to fame
Haitham’s musical talent started early in his age, at the age of 14. Early in his singing career, he performed many songs with Friends of the Leader. He had to overcome many obstacles and hardships as a young aspiring singer before achieving fame.
He was initially featured on (Free Mix) mixtapes from Casablanca (an Iraqi music production company). His first song "Ma Asalhak" in 1989 was presented to the Iraqi TV. His breakthrough single "Ya Nas" ("O people") in 1992, gave him success. His first album entitled "Ya Nas" was released in 1993 with the song "Ya Nas" chosen in 1994 TV poll as the best Iraqi song of that year with 18277 votes.
Haitham was chosen in 1994 TV poll as the best Iraqi singer of that year with 58506 votes.
He introduced subsequently 5 musical albums including love songs, nostalgic songs specially sung for Iraq and a sport song "Farahtona" (You made us happy") dedicated to the Iraqi soccer team.
2000–present
From 2000 on, he recorded 7 successful musical albums and shot more than 40 music videos. In August 2014, he opened his official YouTube channel.[2]
Personal life
He is not married, and lives currently in Amman, Jordan. Soccer is one of his hobbies and he is a fan of the Al Zawra'a Club.
