HR.com is the largest social networking site dedicated to human resources professionals.[1] HR.com is a virtual company that believes in HR education, and networking. The site is "similar to Facebook, with a business community"[2] and allows HR professionals to share best practices and research techniques.[3]

HR.com is an HRCI approved provider.[4] and offers certification for HRCI ( SPHR/PHR) and for SHRM ( SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP) programs.

Company Background

HR.com Limited is a privately held company based out of Aurora, Canada.[5] HR.com was established in 1999 by Debbie McGrath who previously also set up CEO Group Inc., later sold to the Washington Post.[6] It was originally set up as an online magazine for HR professionals [7] but was subsequently turned into a social network. In 2007 the network underwent a significant upgrade and incorporated features such as blogs, wikis, forums, and other web 2.0 functionality.[8]

In October 2010 HR.com announced the launch of its own accreditation program, Institute for Human Resources (IHR).[9] The programs are focused on providing specialized niche training and allow participants to accumulate both IHR and HRCI credits.

Excellence Essentials Publications

HR.com's publication series,"Excellence Essentials", offer 12 monthly online publications that provide an invaluable collection of high quality content and experts' solutions. The magazines provide an interactive online experience with access to articles, case studies, industry trends, options like surveys and benchmark data, learning modules, online archives, links to videos and audio clips, custom content for companies.

Personal Excellence App

Personal Excellence App is a proprietary iOS and Android compatible app designed by HR.com. It is aimed at two distinct markets: individual users and organizations. The individual version is focused on providing educational and motivational content and is positioned as a personal development tool. The enterprise level version contains additional access for administrators to customize and add their own material, and is intended as an white-label mobile complement to corporate training programs. In 2014 the app won a Gold Stevie Award in the professional education category.[10]

Job Stop

HR.com introduced a new & improved job board called the Job Stop in 2014 with the goal to change the online recruitment experience. The Job Stop is the first semi-national/ semi-industry job board that serves North America. In partnership with RealMatch the Job Stop is able to use market leading technology to match qualified candidates to job ads and deliver qualified candidates to employers.

Job Seekers

The job seeker side of the Job Stop is exclusive to human resource professionals looking for a job or career in the HR industry only. Members of HR.com are able to create a free Job Stop profile to get matched, in real time, to jobs that they qualify for with each job ranked and rated based on each candidates qualifications. Searching is optional for jobs seekers and based on specified location.

Institute for Human Resources

Certification: HR.com is a provider of several services surrounding HR Certification. As an example, the most common certification in the HR field is the Professional in Human Resources (PHR). These services operate under their sub-brand; The Institute for Human Resources

Exam Preparation: HR.com offers several training options to aid one in successfully preparing for, and passing, an HR Certification Exam.

Recertification: See Professional in Human Resources (recertification section) HR.com offers an unlimited training package, which allows HR professionals holding a PHR/SPHR/GPHR/SHRM-CP to earn all of their required continuing education credits (or recertification credits, as they are called).

Partnerships

HR.com partners with various industry providers to bundle human resources related services for its members. In some cases the bundles include full use and access to a partner program, while in others the members receive product discounts. Debbie McGrath, the founder, was named one of the top 100 influencers in the HR field,[16] as well as one of top 100 Canadian Women Entrepreneurs by the PROFIT Magazine in 2005.[17]
