HMS Dryad (establishment)
For other ships of the same name, see HMS Dryad.
HMS Dryad is a former stone frigate (shore establishment). It was the home of the Royal Navy's Maritime Warfare School until 2004.
Originally the school was based in Portsmouth Dockyard. The establishment took its name from the ship used as its tender, the fourth HMS Dryad. During World War II it was moved to Southwick House near Portsmouth, where it remained until 2004. The Maritime Warfare School (previously the School of Maritime Operations) was moved to HMS Collingwood in 2004. The location is now home to the Defence College of Policing and Guarding. Southwick House remains the officer's mess. Other units now based there include the Service Police Crime Bureau.
