Gymnastikos Syllogos Larissas is a Greek basketball club, based in Larissa. It was founded in 1928 but in 2006 was merged with AEL 1964 B.C. and replaced by it. The club returned in 2015 after merging with the club Foinix Larissas. The new club is officially named Gymnastikos Larissas - Foinix and plays in Beta Ethniki (3rd tier).[2][3][4] The club’s colours are green and white and its emblem is Discobolus.
History
Gymnastikos was founded in 1928 and was the first club of Larissa that played in Greek BasketLeague (A Ethniki). Since 1980, the club played several times in A' Ethniki up to 2006. Nevertheless due to financial problems, it merged with AEL 1964 B.C. in 2006 and finished temporary his presence. The club returned in 2015 after merging with the other local club, Foinix Larissas.[2][3] Foinix Larissas had been founded in 1995 and the last year played in Beta Ethniki. The club was replaced by Gymnastikos after merging in 2015 and finished its presence.[5]
