Gwangju Health University (GHU) is a bachelor's degree-granting community college located in Gwangju Metropolitan City, South Korea. The education programs at GHU focus on humanities and social sciences and healthcare sciences. Various 2-year associate degree programs, 3-year associate degree programs, 4-year bachelor's degree program, and intensive study programs for a bachelor's degree (전공심화과정) are offered at GHU. As of the fall semester of 2015, GHU has opened its programs to foreign national students. Three categories of financial aid i.e., grants are available to foreign national students according to Korean language ability (minimum 3rd grade on TOPIK II Test of Proficiency in Korean, GPA at GHU, and TOPIK level improvement).

Awards & Recognitions

2013- GHU was awarded the status of World Class College (WCC / ko:세계적 수준의 전문대학) by the Korean Ministry of Education.
2014- GHU was awarded the status of Specialized College of Korea (SCK / ko:대한민국 특성화 전문대학) by the Korean Ministry of Education.
2015- GHU was awarded the 2015 Understanding of International Development Cooperation Project by the Korea International Cooperation Agency ODA Education Center as established by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
2015- GHU was awarded with the highest evaluation grade of A by the Ministry of Education for its College Restructuring Evaluation project.

Global Efforts

Office of Global Affairs

Gwangju Health University, Office of Global Affairs

GHU operates the Office of Global Affairs (OGA), which promotes overseas opportunities for collaborative research, culture and foreign language experience, social welfare projects, foreign national student exchange, job training and employment. GHU OGA is in charge of overall student care for foreign national students studying at GHU. OGA is staffed with one Native English speaker and two administrators who are fluent in English as well. Other personnel can speak Japanese and Chinese.

GHU offers Korean language education classes during the academic semester and vacation periods. Classes are open to Korean residents and foreign nationals abroad.
