Gustav-Vietor-Tower

Gustav-Vietor-Tower was one of the oldest lattice towers ever built in Germany. The tower was built in 1882 as an observation tower and was demolished recently in 2006. It was already closed for visitors and tourists 20 years before it was demolished but still afterwards used by radio amateurs. Iron and stone were used as building materials in constructing the tower. The tower had a spire that was 25 metres long.[1]

History

The Gustav-Vietor-Tower was built in the town of Taunusstein in 1882. After its long service as an observation tower, the tower was closed for visitors 20 years before it was demolished in the year 2006. It was one of the first lattice observation towers ever built in Germany.[1]

Geography

The tower was situated in the town of Taunusstein, which is located in the kreis (district) of Rheingau-Taunus in the Regierungsbezirk (English: Government District) of Darmstadt in Hesse, Germany, until it was demolished in 2006.[2]
