Gustave E. Sandberg (February 23, 1895 – February 3, 1930) was a catcher in Major League Baseball. He played for the Cincinnati Reds.[1] While playing for the Los Angeles Angels in the Pacific Coast League, Sandberg died when he suffered first, second and third degree burns after he lit a match to see how much fuel he had left in his car's fuel tank, after siphoning petrol into the car of manager Marty Krug.[2]
