Gun TV is a future shopping channel that will allow buyers to purchase guns via their television, which is due to launch in 2016. The launch of the channel was announced the same day as the San Bernardino shooting, in which fourteen people were killed.[2][3][4]
Business model
Unlike other shopping channels, Gun TV will not ship any products directly to costumers; instead, the costumer will pick his/her purchase at the nearest federally licensed dealer, which will complete the necessary background checks and paperwork.[1][4] The weapons will be shipped to the dealers via Louisiana-based wholesaler Sports South.[1]
As it is illegal to fire a weapon inside a studio in California, Gun TV shall feature in-studio inactive weapons combined with recorded outdoors demonstrations, which shall be made "by former law enforcement personnel, former members of the military and sharpshooters with a profile among the fanbase, such as ex-Olympic marksmen and season winners of the reality TV show Top Shot".[4]
