The Government Degree College for Boys (Urdu, گورنمنٹ ڈگری کالج اننت ناگ) is an educational Institute in South Kashmir. It is one of the biggest colleges of J&K state headquartered in Anantnag. It was established in 1950 as an intermediate college in the heart of Anantnag town. The Proffesors M.M Fazili, O.N Koul, Prof. Peerzada Ali Mohd and Prof. G.M Bhat are known for having laid a firm foundation for future progress and development of the college.[1]

The Government Degree College for Boys is an educational Institute in South Kashmir. It is one of the biggest colleges of J&K state headquartered in Anantnag. It was established in 1950 as an intermediate college in the heart of Anantnag town.

The college has a library, which is housed in a newly constructed building, and has about 10,056,000 books in addition to subscriptions to local, national and international magazines, journals and other periodicals. Some departments also have departmental libraries.[2]

Other academic facilities include a study center for Indira Gandhi Open University.[3]

Physical education and first aid health care facilities are available as well.[4]

Mission

  2. To work in the direction of achieving autonomy with respect to course selection, evaluation and administration.
  3. To keep the academic and the non-academic faculty abreast with the changing trends vis-à-vis professional expertise.
  4. To create conditions and building infrastructure to enable “the institution with a potential for excellence” to become a deemed university in the near future.
  5. To focus on societal development, research and extension viable to the contemporary issues.

College Hostel

The College Hostel provides accommodation to at least 120 students at a time. Unfortunately the hostel is currently being occupied by security forces and the students from afar have to make their own arrangements at higher costs and less convenience.

The college authorities are hopeful of getting the hostel back as soon as the security forces vacate.
