Ghorahi (formerly Tribhuwannagar) is a municipality and largest city of Dang Deukhuri District of Rapti Zone, southwest Nepal. It is one of the largest cities of Mid-Western and Far-Western Nepal.It is the largest municipality and city of Rapti Region. Surrounded by the Sivalik and Mahabharat range of Hills, it hosts a moderate climate. Hence, it is also referred as Climatic Capital City of Nepal.
History
The municipality was established January 29, 1979 with the amalgamation of Ghorahi VDC and Sewar Bangaun VDC with a combined population of 12,279. It was named Tribhuvannagar Municipality after King Tribhuvan (ruled 1911-1955). After Nepal became a republic in 2008 the name changed back to Ghorahi Municipality.
Transportation
Ghorahi is 23 kilometers north of the East-west highway via a spur road from Lamahi. Roads connect Ghorahi to Rukum, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Salyan and Surkhet districts. There is also a road to the Swargadwari pilgrimage site. Dang airport (code DNG) is 23 kilometers west of the city.
Population
Population was 55,435 in 2001 and increased to 62,928 in 2011. Migration into the city is considered to be very high.[2]
Education
The literacy rate is 73%. Ghorahi is home to Mahendra Multiple College. Nepal's only Sanskrit university Nepal Sanskrit University lies near Tulsipur, Nepal. The city is being developed as an educational hub of Mid-Western Nepal.
Recently, Government of Nepal has decided to establish a government medical college.The public though are expecting to reinnovate the existing sub regional hospital to Autonomous Medical Institute i.e. Swasthya Bigyan Pratisthan.

Health
A sub-regional level hospital along with child hospital, eye hospital and regional ayurveda hospital are serving the people here.Many other private and community level hospital are providing 24 hrs service to the dwellers of rapti region there.Many private hospitals and nursing homes are also under construction. It also has many clinics with highly experienced and qualified doctors.

Drinking Water and Sanitation
Ghorahi municipality has clinched way to quench the thirst of citizens with many drinking water projects as ghorahi khanepani, bharatpur khanepanee and other locals.The total of 12 tons of waste is prod to Many deep level water suppliers are also running with some mineral water industries.
Ghorahi municipality has won the title of "Most clean and sanitated city" of Nepal as it has managed its sanitation project with landfill site in its 9th ward ; Karautee Danda. It is also one of the 5 municipalities who have managed their Dumping and Sanitary site.One tractor, one tripper,60 rickshaw are used to collect waste from the city.
Industrial Development
Ghorahi has its proposed industrial site in its 5th ward with huge possibility of industrial development. It has already hosted more than 1000 big,small,medium,and cottage industry.Many cement industry are under construction which are supposed to minimize huge quantity of import of cement from India. The cement industries like Ghorahi cement industry and Sonapur cement industry have already started their production. Ghorahi cement industry is supposed to be the largest cement industry in Nepal.Besides all these Dang district is also forward in poultry feed industries. Many small scale and medium scale industries related to poultry are running in this region.
Media
Media and communication was quite limited until the 1990s, however in the following decade there has been a proliferation of private media in print, radio and television. There are privately owned 5 local FM stations in Ghorahi as sworgadwari F.M, Madhyapachim F.M, Indreni F.M,Ganatantra Rapti F.M, Jharana F.M, among them Radio Swargadwari, Radio Madhyapaschim and Jharana F.M are Community radio Station, whereas Indreni F.M. is the largest commercial F.M. in Dang as well as in Nepal.<Seejan> There are 3 local television stations: Ambikeshwori Television, RC Channel and Rapti Television. Ghorahi Today is one of the leading online news and entertainment portal of rapti region. Ghorahi Today is under the supervision of Ghorahi Media Network. About 5 national daily newspapers, in Nepali are published in the city along with several other weekly and monthly news and entertainment newspapers and magazines. Almost all major national newspapers published in Kathmandu have distributions in Ghorahi.
Place of Interest
Ambikeshwori Mandir
It is one of the famous temples of Western Nepal. Its history is mentioned in the famous religious book of Hindus, swosthani.
Ratna Nath Mandir
It lies in the 4th ward of the municipality and famously known as Gorakshya Siddha Ratna Nath Mandir. It is one of the historic place of Nepal.
Barha kune Daha and Baraha Temple
It lies in the 7th ward of the municipality. There is a beautiful pond that has twelve corners ( angles ); hence named " barha kune daha ". Temple of god Bishnu " barah " is also an important place for Pilgrims at that area and couple of temples of Ganesh and Shiv are there . A special fair is organised here during Maghe sankranti. It is also a famous tourist spot.
Pandaveshwor Mandir
It is related to the Pandavs of the famous epic Mahabharata. A special fair is organised during Maha Shiv Ratri.Recently. the temple management committe inagurated the worlds largest trident or trishul in the temple area. A total of thousand trees were also planted in the region. The trishul is considered to be the largest in the world.
Maulakot
It is a name of village located in ghorahi municipality-7.
Sawarikot
It is one of the promising hill site for paragliding possibilities in dang.
Rihar Temple
It is in the satbariya vdc of dang.
