State Route 99 (SR 99) is a 38.9-mile-long (62.6 km) state highway that travels south-to-north through portions of Glynn and McIntosh counties in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The route begins at its southern terminus at US 82/SR 520 east of Waynesville to its northern terminus at I-95 west of Eulonia.
Route description
SR 99 begins at an intersection with US 82/SR 520 in southern Glynn County. The road follows a northerly route to an intersection with SR 32 just west of Sterling. SR 99 travels concurrent with SR 32 for approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) to an intersection with US 25/US 341/SR 27 where SR 32 meets its eastern terminus. SR 99 continues north through rural Glynn County to its interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95) at exit 42 and on to US 17/SR 25 in northern Glynn County. From there, SR 99 continues concurrent with US 17/SR 25 to Darien in McIntosh County where SR 99 branches off to the east and forms a loop from Darien to Eulonia through several neighborhoods, while closely following the gradient between the trees and marshes. In Eulonia, SR 99 once again intersects US 17/SR 25, where it continues west 1 mile (1.6 km) more to its northern terminus at another interchange with I-95 at exit 58. Continuing westward, the roadway becomes SR 57, which continues west towards Townsend.[1]

Future
Portions of SR 99 in Glynn County are scheduled to be widened in the coming years due to new developments in northern Glynn County. As of 2014, the interchange with I-95 is being reconstructed, and by the early 2020s, the 6-mile-long (9.7 km) portion between I-95 and US 341 is scheduled to be widened to a four-lane divided highway. The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to ultimately widen the entire segment between US 17/SR 25 and US 82/SR 520.[2]
