Georg (Jørgen) Zoega (December 20 1755 Southern Jutland – February 10. 1809, Rome) was a Danish antiquarian and numismatist. He is known for his study of Egyptian coins and for compiling and publishing the first catalogue of Egyptian hieroglyphs. Born in Denmark he traveled to Rome where he worked under the patronage of Stefano Borgia. [1]
