Geita District is located in the Geita Region of Tanzania.[2] According to the 2012 census, the population of the district was 807,619.[1] The district is bordered to the southeast by Shinyanga Region, to the north and east by Mwanza Region, to the northwest by Kagera Region, to the south by Bukombe District, and to the southwest by Chato District.
History
Prior to the creation of the Greita Region in March 2012,[2] the Geita District was part of the Mwanza Region.[3]
