Urmila Gayathri[2] (also known as Gayathri Iyer)[3] is an Indian film actress and model from Kerala, who acted in Kannada, Telugu and Bengali films.

Biography

Urmila Gayathri[4][5][6] [7] started modeling in her first year of Mechanical Engineering. It started with college fashion shows. And they led to intercollege fashion show competitions. Soon she got noticed by coordinators and casting directors in kerala. Subsequently she did prominent print ads and later TV Commercials of well known national and international brands. She also walked the ramp in bangalore for several fashion labels. After establishing herself as a popular model she shifted her focus to acting and films.

She did notable movies in kannada.Namo Bhootatma which was produced by Eldred Kumar of RS Infotainment.It stars Komal and Harish Raj as male leads. This was a remake of the Tamil Super Hit Yaamirukka Bayamey. Namo Bhootatma ran for 100 days in Karnataka and was well received by the audience.

Gayathri's next was Ouija in Kannada and Telugu by Vega Entertainment which was filmed in Malaysia and parts of Bangalore and Hyderabad.It costars Shradha Das, Madhuri Itagi, Siyaji Shinde and Bharath.It released to good openings and collections in karnataka and her performance on the movie has been noted and appreciated. She has also starred in a Bengali movie named Shrishti with Nepali heroUttam Pradhan ,where she plays the title role and is a women oriented social movie.its yet unreleased. Gayathri's last 2 movies have been in the horror genre. She has finished shooting for Tyson with Vinod Prabhakar ,son of late superstar Tiger Prabhakar.She is currently shooting for Jaggudada with Kannada superstar Darshan.This is her biggest movie to date.

Besides acting, she is also passionate about dancing . She has been a student of Bharatanatyam since her school days and even in college. She has undergone training for Hip-hop and contemporary under lollipop master. She has undergone training for taekwondo, the Korean martial art .

She is also popular in television commercials like Garnier, Pantene, Vivel soap, Big bazaar, Orysa oil, Catch Masala, ITC Bank, Airtel Digital TV, ParleG, Prince Jewellery, Travancore Jewels, Easyoffbang, Luminous Inverters, Nalli Silks, Kalamandir sarees, Colgate Max Fresh, Yamaha Dream Rider, Vanitha Magazine Cover, SM Silks, Cool Lips.
