Galia Lahav is the eponymous fashion house of designer Galia Lahav, based in Tel Aviv. The fashion house was founded in 1988 as a wedding dress design company, and now creates evening wear fashion as well.

History

Fashion by Galia Lahav (2015)

Galia Lahav produces haute couture wedding dresses and accessories, in addition to evening wear. Galia Lahav designs the line with Sharon Sever, the house designer.[1][2] The fashion house was founded in 1988 by Galia Lahav, a Russian born artist living in Tel Aviv, Israel. Initially Lahav operated a knitted appliqué and embroidery shop, before transitioning full-time into wedding and evening wear.[3] After working as an art teacher and artist, she began designing bridal wear for the Israeli market. The firm now has retailers in Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia.[4][5] The company has dressed individuals attending awards ceremonies, including Meghan Trainor for the 2015 Grammy Awards.[6]

Collections

In 2014 Galia Lahav introduced the Moon Struck Evening collection, a line of evening gowns intended to “mimic the moon’s reflection amongst the stars” using “layers of lace and silk, the translucent materials intended to emphasize the female figure”.[7] In 2015 Lahav released the line Tales of the Jazz Age, which based its styles around a 1920s retrospective look focuses on the jazz culture of this time.[8] It has been described as “Galia's signature fitted, low-back gowns which were over-the-top, sexy and lavish”.[9] The firm has also produced the La Dolce Vita Bridal Collection.[7] New collections are shown each spring fashion week at international bridal fairs.[10] The lines are also shown in bridal magazines.[11][12]

A Revolution in Fashion

Celebrities from movies, music and television have chosen Galia Lahav’s sexy, daring showstopper gowns for appearances, performances and photo shoots. Jennifer Lopez wore body-baring Galia Lahav gowns on the February 2016 cover and inside People en Espanol magazine to promote her Las Vegas residency[13]. Double nominee Meghan Trainor landed on best-dress lists when she wore a black lace Galia Lahav to the 2015 Grammy awards[14]. Orange is the New Black actress Kimiko Glenn wore a hand-embroidered Galia Lahav to accept the show’s Outstanding Performance for an Ensemble in a TV Comedy Series at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards[15]. Actress-singer Jana Kramer chose Galia Lahav both for her red carpet look at the 2015 Country Music Awards[16] and her May 2015 wedding to football player Mike Caussin.
