The Gainesville Independent School District is a public school district in Cooke County, Texas, Texas, USA, based in Gainesville, Texas. In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[2]
Recent Superintendents have been Dr. Jeffrey Brasher - 2011 - Current, William Gravitt - 2007-2011, Dr. Charles Luke - 2005-2007, Mike Rosenberg - 1998-2005 and Charlie Uselton - 1988-1993.

The Gainesville Independent School District has two elementary schools, one middle school, one intermediate school and one high school.

Gainesville High School also serves students living in the Walnut Bend Independent School District, which does not have a high school of its own.
