GSM radio access network

GRAN is an abbreviation of GSM radio access network. It consists of Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and Base Station Controllers (BSC). Its purpose is to manage the radio link between mobile phones and a telecommunication core network. This access network provides access to both Circuit switched (CS) and Packet switched (PS) core networks.
