The G&SWR 45 Class were 0-6-2T steam locomotives designed by Peter Drummond for the Glasgow and South Western Railway (G&SWR) and introduced in 1915.[1]

Ownership changes

All 28 locomotives passed to the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) in 1923. Only one, no. 16905, survived into British Railways (BR) ownership in 1948 and this was withdrawn the same year.

Numbering

The class was originally designated 45 Class but, after the G&SWR's 1919 renumbering, this was changed to 1 Class. The LMS originally numbered them 16400-16427 but later changed this to 16900-16927.
