In 1952, it merged with the privately run Huanghuagang, Zhongjian, and Fuhua Middle Schools, and the newly merged entity was thenceforth called Fuzhou No.3 Middle School. In 1959, it was designated by the government as a "key provincial middle school". The school currently enrols around 2,100 students from grades 10 to 12.
