Fritz Buchenau (4 June 1914 – 8 February 1991) was a highly decorated Oberleutnant of the Reserves in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Fritz Buchenau joined the Bundeswehr in 1956 and retired in 1972 as a Brigadegeneral.
